Goals - Build a vehicle powered only by an unaltered Estes D12 rocket
that travels the greatest distance towards a fixed target. Run
surface will be the largest, smoothest
parking lot we can find but I'm
guessing 100 yards will be the high end of the average distances.
The
winning entry will be the one that travels the greatest distance toward a
fixed marker from the
group launch point. "Common Sense" rules apply
to all you sneaky types.
Twist - Each vehicle must carry a payload of a roll over quarters.
Prize - Winner keeps all the contestants quarters, hence a $10 entry!

The "most spectacular failure" is allowed to keep his/her
roll of quarter.

Rules and Restrictions
The only power source allowed it your ONE D12-5, D12-7, or D12-0 Estes engine. "Power" means what it means - no stored potential energy like compressed springs, crossbows, compressed air, falling weights etc.
Performance restrictions - Your "vehicle" may not exceed an altitude of 4 feet during its travel and must be fired from a ground level marker.
Build restriction. None. You are welcome big builders - you know who you are.
Safety concerns - None.
Location - One of the guys mention an unfinished housing area with beautiful smooth blacktop with no houses yet constructed. I figure we could get all our shots off before the cops come.
Rules Addendum - Updated 2/25 -
*) You cannot use any form of guide rail or channel to guide your vehicle for any distance.
*) The starting position is at the tip of your vehicle.
*) Contestants can AS MANY cars as desired but the they must selects the one "that counts" before any are fired.
*) Test Firing. If the contestant wants to take the chance - he/she will be allowed for a single test run first, but only AFTER declaring that is a practice firing and not the official run. Be forwarned that there is a CHANCE THAT YOU WILL DEMOLISH YOUR CAR before the official run!!!! .
