Smokeless ashtray

My first thinking of the thought, “ I thought it was good Idea at the time.” After seeing a smokeless ashtray commercial, decided to build one for my Dad. A coffee can, 3volt dc Radio Shack motor, model airplane propeller and a coffee filter were cut and duct-taped together. The top resting area was covered with wire screen material for the cigarette to rest on. The revealing of the contraption was that night, dinnertime. Confused and amused, Dad sat his glowing cig on the can – softly buzzing from the motor inside. After only 5 minutes later I checked the ashtray to see the cigarette glowing bright yellow and the metal screen melting.
