The Rules


Part 1 – Marked in blue

To hurl a standard, 1.68" diameter golf ball the maximum linear distance (x), not including roll. Three balls will be supplied to the contestants from the same unopened, store bought box.

Part 2 – Marked in red

The user has five attempts at “closest to the pin” measured radially outwards from a stake (r). The stake will be place at a random distance from a fixed launch area to be placed at random by a non-contest-involved person.

“Device Area” –

4' X 4' x 4' cube

1) No part of the launch mechanism can leave the device area. Anchors/moorings can extend below the surface of the ground, directly below and inside of the footprint area. The device area can have any orientation (e.g., the imaginary launch cube could be balanced on a corner).

2) The ball must be at rest within the device area up until the moment of launch

3) The ball must leave the Device Area with nothing attached to it

4) The device must be purely mechanical (pneumatics okay, but compression must be from manual mechanical process and must be performed on site) - no use of fire, explosives/combustible propellants.

5) No electricity - AC/DC or battery power sources

7) Items used to load the device can extend outside of the Device Area. ONLY a trigger mechanism can extend outside of the Device Area to the operator.

8) No energy, of any form, can be supplied outside of the Device Area that does not conform to the above restrictions or during the launching.

9) Limited to a single operator for both loading and firing.

Final Rule) No moronic loopholes as defined by the other contestants as common sense. Don’t talk about Fight Club.

The new punishment for the losers of the golf ball contest is a required hair bleaching for all.

If a contestant wins either contest (distance or accuracy), they are exempt from the hair bleaching.

Not showing up for the contest still constitutes a loss.

Here is a sample of what could be and to illustrate the importance of coming in first or second place :

 

Sept 20th - 2005 -New!! Since there are a couple individuals that have an unnatural fear of blonde hair, we have developed a menu of punishments from which the losers of the contest may choose. Here are the basic parameters:

 If you do not place FIRST in either the Distance or Accuracy contests, you must endure ONE of the punishments from the menu.

  1. If you place LAST in either the Distance or Accuracy contest, you must endure TWO of the punishments from the menu.
  2. If you fail to participate in both contests, you must endure THREE of the punishments from the menu. Participation is defined as showing up with a reasonable device with the intention of competing. If your device simply malfunctions at the critical moment (sound familiar, Jason?), you will still be considered a participant.

 

Menu of Pain and Humiliation

 

** Choice #1
Keep a (group made) "I'm a Loser" 8.5" x 11" sign on the driver-side AND in the rear window of his car for one month.

 ** Choice #2
Have to play in the Park Place(a local Tucson shopping mall ) kids playground non-stop for 60 minutes, playing on ALL of the induvidual toys for equal time.

 ** Choice #3
You must bleach hair within two days of contest. Hair must remain unaltered until worn at the office for two full business days. The bleaching service will be performed by the remaining contestants. Cute little blonde boys will have their hair dyed in a color of the winners’ choosing.

 ** Choice #4
You HAVE to park in the auxilary parking lot (other side of 5th) for one month. Parking in the main lot restarts the required month.

  ** Choice #5
Take a non-perforated plastic golf ball from the distance winner's machine at 5', impact required.
